What? Me Worry?

Greetings all you members of the IWSG! Last month I was a day late for the meeting. My apologies - I hope that you ate up all the brownies I made and drank the coffee. This week I am entering a period of intense work stress. It is unavoidable but still I feel perfectly fine about it. I'm still waiting to get my latest edits back from my mentor - ahem - and trying not to make up stories about why it isn't here yet.

On a positive note - while I was in Saskatoon taking a training course for work my dear fella created an office for me upstairs. There was one wee bedroom that only fit a bed and a dresser. Now the bed (a single) is jammed into the storage space up here and my desk and chair are nicely situated so that with the doors to this room and the guest bedroom across the hall I can see east to the beach and the Mealy Mountains or west to the large snow covered spruce forest that is our yard. There are things that I will tweak - I need art up that inspires and really a new desk chair (this one kills my back) but that can happen. The thing is that I now have a dedicated space not used for one other activity. A space to write - a room of my own. Calloo Callay oh Frabjous Day!

I'm borrowing an idea from a sketching teacher I had in Skool - his name is Michael Nobbs of Sustainably Creative and he is a wonder of a guy. He suffers from fibrolmyalgia but manages to create wonderful works of art and books by taking it in small bites. I think I will work on my newest book while waiting for the one at my mentors but because I have this intense period of work work - I will only commit to half an hour a day. When my edits are back I will go at it hammer and tongs but until then - slow like the turtle.

How are all of you doing? Road blocks? Traffic lights? bumps? Or smooth sailing?

A room of your own! Virginia Woolf would be pleased with your fella for setting that up for you. :)

Hope you hear back from your mentor soon and that the work stress is easing up.

I am so happy that you have your own office, Jan! Wonderful It makes all the difference for me, I can tell you.

Thanks you two wondrous women! It does make a difference - my computer was set up in a corner of the dining room and it was adjacent to a vestibule that we don't use (the front door?). It was cold and cramped and just dopey. On the other hand, I did write 55 thousand words there in November. But now it is colder and I need a more uplifted space. My new office is tiny but perfect. It isn't for anything but my writing - not bills, not art projects - just writing. Love it!

That's wonderful you have your own office now. Put that wasted space to use and give you a great view to boot.

That is great and he made it all for you too. That is so sweet. Sigh, I'm jealous.

Your little space sounds fabulous! May it bring you many wonderful ideas! And don't fret on your mentor--people can get behind for all sorts of reasons.
