Another Tuesday without Gwen

Tuesdays mean missing Gwen. Tuesdays, for the last thirteen or fourteen years have been writing days with Gwen. We each work on our projects, share bits we want feed-back on, get each other going, celebrate successes, grieve rejections, and, of course, eat.

Now, here on The Labrador, every day could be writing day but it ain't the same without my pal. I'll probably call her in a bit, check in, see how she's paddling on. I want to talk about projects and what to do with them.

Yesterday I went onto my file, my downloaded fb wall, all years and years of it, and copied each post that was a seed of a poem or a fragment, from my time here. So, all in all - 14 solid pages - and not like poems but full paragraphs as that is the way the html downloads. Very very satisfying. Now I'm going to mine it for the gold. I also wrote an outline of my Labrador project - as if I already had the poems - the sections if you will. I have The Shore (and I have lots of work to choose from here) The Village (these are mostly brewing within) and Inner (I won't call it this but not sure of the name yet, or the name of the whole work) which will be poems on what my inner journey has been.

Now to get down to it. If I could have even twelve finished poems - four for each section - that would be grand. One will be the one I sent to the CBC contest - fitting in to the Village poems - and I have some begun for The Shore and Inner so it doesn't seem insurmountable. It means I'll need to finish one every three days. I can do that. That'll give me a week to polish the collection too.

Bright Angel? hmmm.... scared to look, it has been so long. It was working through me so much, I was dreaming it and then when the baby was born and I went to Ottawa it fell away and now I'm scared. I promise to look at it today. That's a first step. I really don't think it needs too much but I'm not sure from where I stand on the foggy shoreline looking out through a glass darkly etc...

So ... to work I go - Bella and I having had our walk. That's where the pussy willow photo came from. I do need to make a quilt sandwich today too - yum yum and both the fella and I are feeling this cold still. I was lucky - mine seemed to go off for the weekend but it came back. First time I've been sick here so that's not too bad.

Later my dears...

Jan - I really would love it if you post some of your poetry. And the longer you wait to get back to Bright Angel, the harder it'll be...

Hi y'all - thanks for coming by.
Johanna - a quilt sandwich is the quilt top (the patchwork pieced together), the batting and the backing - all basted together ready for hand-quilting.

Liza and Margot - the problem with posting poems here is that they are considered published by journals which is insane but there you have it. All the poems I published on fb I consider sketches but if they aren't quite changed by my work with them, I cannot call them unpublished. So, it is a dilemma... I've considered sending out little poem messages with email to various people who have expressed a liking for my poems but not sure if I should do that. Part of what my head is working on right now.
