Hi all!
What is the BuNoWriMo - it is the Burrowers answer to the NaNoWriMo which is the National Novel Writing Month. It is the Burrowers Novel Writing Month and it takes place in June since lots of the folks taught and so forth and found November too tough a time. Many do both. I've done it a couple of times and the NaNo twice. Last year I started Bright Angel in the BuNo and kept going. It is now pretty much finished and out to beta readers. I have been revising The Rock Walker (my first Kitty MacDonald mystery) and I should finish Earth Bound (the second). I could also spend a bit of time on True and Feckless if I was so inclined.
But you know what? Even though it is perfectly acceptable, in the weird band of eccentrics that make up The Burrowers, to revise instead of create -edit so many thousand words a day instead of writing them - it doesn't quite work for me. I have found, when I've tried that approach, that I just don't have the same energy, and so I've got a plan! Yes, a plan!
The Plan (to quote the Tartlette 'bwahahahahahah')
1. Write 25 thousand words on a NEW novel
2. Finish all revisions on both Bright Angel and The Rock Walker.
So my goals will be to spend a chunk of time on the New Novel - the one I haven't even a thought about as I just decided this at this minute - and an equal amount of time on The Rock Walker and Bright Angel. GAHHH! To keep myself true I will not be allowed to go beyond my thousand words a day limit until I have revised at least two chapters of either finished novel.
Now to name the new novel ... hmmm.... will it be another Kitty MacDonald or a YA like Bright Angel? Or something entirely new - yes! It will be entirely new. It won't be a novel at all! It will be the play that I promised to write for the Prospect Players. A space western called 'Annie Get Your Laser' or 'Billy the Punk' or 'Home, Home on the Range, where the extraterrestrial- life-forms roam'. I need to have it done before the end of the summer so this is perfect and I won't worry at all about the word-count as it is meaningless with plays - I just need to get a full two-act play done to the first draft stage by the end of June. Yay!
Check in tomorrow to see where I'm going with this!

Looking forward to finding out more. You can really do that? Just decide you are going to write a play and write it? Pretty impressive!
I like your plan a lot! And I have played around with what I want to do during BuNo as well, before. One year I just write 50k total, but most of it was on short stories.
Jan - Oh, I'm so glad you'll be focusing on your writing again. I like your plan. I cannot wait to find out which direction you take on it!
Good luck, Jan! I have a project to work on as well but haven't yet come up with a plan that suits me.
