She Writes

Hi all! It is writing tuesday with dear gwen, but before I dive into revision-land, I want to tell you about a web site I just joined - it is called She Writes and I think some of you are already members. It looks tremendously wonderful to me - full of blogging, engaging women who want to talk words and craft and publishing and how to chase an agent and what to do if you catch one and like that.

I like this sort of thing - some forums I've been part of haven't worked out for me. But this has a structure I can live with. I've joined two groups - one for those writing literary fiction and one for Canadian writers. I will also join the mystery group and then we'll see.

What groups do you belong to online? Any or many?

In other news - I'm having problems with blogspot leaving comments so if I haven't left one in awhile it is not from lack of trying. My trouble is that, each time, I think it will be different. Reminds me of a husband I used to have. Had to leave him too. hmmm....

Revision-land is going swell - still into the pow-wow chapters while the images are fresh. Should finish them in a couple of days and then it is back to the earlier chapters to trudge through. ha.

I've had a hard time commenting on my desktop as well. I belong to a few online writing groups. The write-brained network, scwbi. I've met some great people through them.

Jan, when you're signing into Blogger each day, don't check that box that says "stay signed in." See if that will help (nutty as that advice is. It's a known issue that Blogger is in no hurry to fix.)

Yes, I belong to a couple of Yahoo groups and am on a few lists. I feel like I'm not the best member because I'm so stretched for time!

I had major Blogger problems a couple months ago, but - knock wood - nothing recent.

I left a message for you in the comment trail of my blog post yesterday but you may not be able to see it. If you'll email me at tikihuttimeATgmailDOTcom I'll send you the information you asked for. I couldn't find your email address on your profile.

I joined SheWrites too but havent had time to really spend anytime there yet, must do so soon:)

Good luck with your revision! I'm second drafting a novel I wrote two years ago, its quite surreal, its like reading someone elses work, I havent a clue whats going on!

Hi Miranda – Yes, it is so frustrating and I’ve done many things to change it to no avail.
I’m going to check out the write-brained network – sounds interesting.

Elizabeth – yes, I do that. I’ve been on the help site and posting sites for the problem and I change everything, dump all my cookies and so forth – it works for a week or two and then back at it. Must be cuz I play Frozen Bubble!!
As to the ‘not best member’, I’m not going to worry about that initially. I can put content from this blog onto my page there and I can gad about looking at all that is available – then I’ll see what else I can offer.

Carol – I should be able to see your response to my comment – I’ll check it out.
My email address is mobudgeATnsDOTsympaticoDOTca

Siobhan – yes, I’m just exploring too.
I worked for three hours on my revision, yesterday and today, and got about 8 pages done. Yikes! I’ll be here, in this chair, forever.

I've joined a few online writing groups, but haven't gotten very far in actually joining in on any of the discussions. Which Canadian writers' group did you join?

Not a day goes by that I don't have "bloggy" problems. I sometime write huge, fabulous comments that get lost -and then I can't remember them... so I end up leaving a generic, "Thanks for sharing!" :(
I haven't joined any groups. I'm afraid the publishing jargon is over my head and I'll end up looking like an "old woman in pajamas that writes a blog". So unprofessional...lol

I belong to several Yahoo groups, a couple former Ning groups, and a writer's club on Deviant Art.

I've had trouble at times commenting, like the remark about your ex husband.

Elspeth – The Canadian group I joined is a sub-group of She Writes. I haven’t been accepted yet…;)

Rae – nah, you won’t be an old woman in pyjamas that blogs but that would be OK too!

Diane – Deviant Art! What a great title – will check that out.

Karen – ah yes, time…

Yvonne – ha! We’ll see. The thing is, if I leave blogspot, how will I take allmy contacts and back blogs with me? So difficult…easier to leave a husband, really.

Urgh! Sorry about commenting trouble. I have a couple blogs that I can't comment via internet explorer but work fin on Foxfire--no clue what that's about, but it's the same couple blogs all the time, so I think it is them.

SheWrites is on my list to check out. I've been chatting some at LinkedIn, but it's an odd place... Blogging a little about it at the Burrow tomorrow.

Glad the revisions are going well! Mine are decent, too... plugging away...

There are some groups I'd love to join, but I just don't have the time. Book promotion and my caregiving duties are keeping me on overdrive. Hopefully, when things slow down a bit...

I've had several people today say they couldn't comment on a Blogger blog. They've made this comment on my WordPress blog. I love my WP blog, and the way I've linked it to my old Blogger account keeps me in touch with all the friends I've made there in the past 15+ months. Don't want to lose any of you!

Glad you're making good progress on your revisions!!

hey Tartlette - glad you're zinging along with your revision. I am on linkedin but I have no idea why...

Ann - I hear you! I might make the switch - it is so aggravating.
And thanks for the encouragement on my revision.

I'm pretty sure I've joined some groups. My problem is that I'll join something and forget that I did and consequently never participate. Blogging keeps me busy enough.

I haven't had any commenting problems lately.
