Revision

Oh, I scared the sweet patootie when I came downstairs at 7 o'clock this morning.
"What are you doing up?" he asked.
"It's Nov. 1st - I start NaNo this morning. If you read my blog instead of just relying on me to tell you what I'm up to we could avoid all this needless chitchat." OK, I didn't quite say that but sort of. I mean, I am a FICTION writer. He laughed and said it would take some getting used to - me being up so early. I took offence. Before I met him I used to get up at 6 every morning. I would walk the dog and make my coffee. It isn't my fault he makes me coffee so I can stay all cozy in bed and read! It's his! But things will change around here.
I've already put in an hour and a half on my revision and I'm going to keep going for awhile too. I started writing a fake outline for my modern fairy-tale yesterday and I'll spend some more time on it too. Who knows? And I have two more stories to write for the farm series which I will send off this afternoon. All 8 that is and wait to hear how they want them changed. So a real at home writing day. Yep.

By the by - have any of you seen the movie Winter's Bone? The SP and I watched it last night. I had to take Felix to yet another gathering in the far off suburbia where most of the kids from the high school live so I swung by the video place and picked up that movie and series two of The Wire. We watched Winter's Bone after we shut the front lights off. We weren't getting any more kids so we retired to the den (where I am now - sounds better than the rec room doesn't it?) and watched. It was amazingly good - dark and Gothic. Like an Ozarkian fairy-tale actually - or even one of Shakespeare's tragedy. I really liked it and it reminded me that a writer needs to really pile on the discouraging events for her protagonist. Make it impossible for them to do anything but react in a strong and somewhat bizarre way. Yep, that ole conflict! We'd be nothing without it.

Later...
oh all of you who are NaNo-ing please friend me - my name is Labanan.

I laughed out loud about SP reading your blog. I've longed to utter those same words to Live-In Handyman. Good luck with NaNo.

Can relate so much to your blog- including our SP not really" reading our blogs- mine does a quick glance and then tries to sound profound! Heres to a successful November!!

As my daughter tells me, "the family is the last to know" meaning friends tell her what I'm up to when they read the blog. lol
Good luck this month.

It would make life a great deal easier if our significant others would just read our blogs, wouldn't it? I'm also NaNo-ing. (is that a word? ah, who cares) I shall pop over there and friend you immediately.

Carol - do you know that I ALWAYS want to put an 'e' on the end of your name. Why is that, do you think? I'm actually glad the man only reads it once in ahwile - it would be weird and uncomfortable if he knew the level of chitchat I'm capable of!
Julia - yay November! Where it is in true fashion now cold and rainy here. Perfect for writing, neh?
Thanks Mary - that is funny. My step-kids wouldn't think of reading my blog - way too much interest shown by doing that! They will befriend my friends on facebook though. weird.
Elspeth - yay! I'll friend you back or however it works. Hope your first day went well - I suppose it is still going - it is five thirty here so...I'm ready to pack in it in.
Talli - thanks deario - I'll make it fun and stress free this year by doing what I want! yeehaw.

Sounds like a lot of writing going on there. Good luck with NaNo.

I saw Winter’s Bone. I thought it was almost too dark with too many things piling up on that poor little protagonist (who did a superb job). I think part of my problem is that I know there is probably more truth in the film than I want to believe.

Good luck with NaNo, Jan! I'm with you on the blog reading wishes...and sometimes I think I've *told* my husband something, but I blogged it, instead! Yes, if he'd regularly read it, it would help. :)

Jane - oh, I agree - it is the fact that it probably is believable - oh heck, the truth is I know it is believable because I worked with young men who'd been in and out of the hoosegaw and they had the same 16th century tight social order "don't tell me if you know who killed my brother because once I know I'll have to do something" WAS exactly how they would be. Dark and true I think...I loved her resiliency.

Elizabeth - that happens to me in exactly that way! The only person I know reads it daily is my Dad and I think my sister and sometimes I forget to tell them something over the phone but I'm sure they know!!

Yes, I believe I'm already your friend. And, I'm glad you're off to a good start. I need to be in that place and I'm not there yet... so I have lots of catching up to do.

Good for you for doing NaNo. I backed off from the commitment, thinking perhaps I need to focus on getting other projects caught up so I can write in peace (and not in pieces).

Oh, Jan, my hubby complains all the time that I don't communicate. I try to tell him I communicate very well, he just doesn't READ it, but that doesn't amuse him at all.

YAY for your writing day! Hope it was super productive! And that movie sounds fabulous!
