An assortment of thingys

Thingy #1

First off - thanks to Nicki E. for awarding me the lovely blog award! It sure is purty!
I want a cup of rose petals don't you?  I roamed around looking at all the nice blogs that Nicki awarded this to and that wasted some time. Yikes.  But now I have some more blogs to visit and that has to be good eh?
Here are five blogs I want to send this off to - if you have it - well OK - now you have it again AND as with all awards on this site - no obligations whatsoever to pass it on or post it or thank me. That is what a gift is, my ma taught me - without strings...

So five lovely blogs:

Burrowers Books and so on....
Straight from Hel
Thoughts in Progress
It's a Mystery
Through My Eyes

All of these are thoughtful, well written, sometimes deep, sometimes silly - always good to visit!

Thingy #2 -

I'm going to be on the road for the next two weeks - on and off - visiting farms in Nova Scotia and interviewing farmers and taking pictures. It is a dream job for me - a woman with Barn Heart (google it).
So that is to say that I won't be around as much....

Thingy #3 - I watched the newest Little Women last night on my computer in ten minute segments....ah well. It was good. I liked it but tonight maybe I'll watch the one with Katherine Hepburn. The point is that I realized while watching it how much that book is part of my heart. Lines that I've been saying for years that I had no idea of their inception were uttered "and I want Beth to have my turquoise ring" and just the utter identification with Jo and her temper and frustrations. It was revealing.

Thingy #4 - I saw a post in my morning wanderings that involved tagging people and answering questions and while I am slightly allergic to that one of the questions was interesting - it was 'what was your favourite compliment'. I'm not sure it is my favourite (as that is an odious distinction) but the one that went straight into my heart lately was from my dear old dad. When I was apologizing for the pain I undoubtedly caused him as a teenager (you don't need to ask why) he said 'on the whole you brought us much more joy than pain'. Thanks Dad!  I appreciate that more than I have words for and you know I have no shortage of words...

All right - back to work...but first three pictures of my trip to Lunenburg with Felix and step-dot!

Phew, that's a lot of thingies! Thanks for stopping by my blog and following.

We'll have to support each other through the old/new Scotland winters!

Congrats on the first thingy and thanks for selecting my blog to be one of the group you're passing it along to! (wow, that was awkward).

Enjoy yourself with the second thingy; it sounds marvy indeed. I've got to get myself over to your coast!

As for the third thingy, I tend to shy away from movie versions of favourite books. I'm always disappointed.

Your fourth thingy is magical - what a wonderful thing for your father to have said! I shudder when I remember my teenage years and what I must have put my parents through. I wasn't as bad as some, but still.

You do have a lovely blog. I'm glad you got an award for it. You've made me want to watch Little Women again. I love it. Have a lovely trip...your pictures are stunning her; perhaps you'll include some more from your travels over the next few weeks?

Katie - no problemo! I like silk long-johns for starts -as soon as it gets cold put them on - take them off to bathe. I look like I'm in sausage casing in mine so make sure to get black NOT pink.

Elspeth - you are welcome - your posts are always brilliant!! Yes, you do. We're doing up the halloween mystery now. It is based on a Dylan song.

Karen - I think it should change day to day or season to season. One person I know said that I was the Johnny Appleseed of humour. That was one terrific compliment - the kind that you take to bed with you on cold Nova Scotian nights when your own supposed loved ones are being strange...

Clarissa - thanks and yes I will! As to watching on youtube it is weird and somewhat disjointed but all right in a fix. And it was good.

Thanks Talli - it is a brilliant town. I love it and so did our Felix who had his first fishcakes at Magnolia's!! He said it sounded disgusting. Last night I made meat loaf!! He is confused by our food names....

Liza - for sure I will share - I will take TONNES of pics. I love farm pics. I'm so excited!

Jemi - doesn't it?! It is really a job tailor made for me.

Congratulations on your award! That sounds like a great gig, interviewing farmers. Will you be taking photos too? I'd like to see some more chicks and some barn cats if you take requests :-)

Congratulations on the award (it is purty) and thanks for thinking of me when passing it on. I'm honored.

I hope you have fun with your travel, nice gig. That was a great compliment from your Dad. Anything with Katherine Hepburn in it is great in my book. Love the photos.

Deniz - yes, I will be taking photos. If you check this blog's past you'll see lots of chicken photos as I have a small flock...so not sure what I'll be seeing when I go out as the farming ranges from a winery to a cheese maker to a fallow deer operation to grass fed beef and blueberries! Thanks for dropping by - I'm a crazed winter knitter and will keep visiting you!
Mason - oh I love your site and Katherine Hepburn and my dad! So yay!
Natasha - great - I'm glad you are pleased with it. I think your site is beeeeeyoutiful!

Ha! I'm glad Natasha is more timely in her blog hopping than I am--so YES--The Burrow thanks you and loves you! (this is our first award, I think)

I really hope that farm project is fabulous (though we'll miss you). Love your dad's compliment--what does it mean that I have a hard time remembering compliments? I can come up with a few, but it is because they were funny or from unusual people.
