At the starting line

For the next 49 days this site will be devoted to the process of revision. This morning the sky is cloudy and rain is just barely holding back. I feel like I did at the start of the Dublin marathon - all excited and shivery. Today will be reading my draft - hopefully the whole thing but we'll see. I printed it out in a condensed form last night. So bye - kids - I'm off to my comfy chair to read and mark a bit.

Enjoy this process. I was surprised to find I really liked my story when I read it straight through the first time. Yes, there are things to do, but that's an opportunity to make it even better.

The sky ALWAYS looks cloudy when you're revising, except when it suddenly grows so irresistibly bright that you have to strip your clothes and venture out under it. You can do it! You're 2% done! (does that help at all? it helps me, but I might be a freak)

Mason - oh I won't attempt anything that isn't fun...

Jenny - thanks and thanks for dropping by too.

Tricia - I'm half through and I am having that experience. So nice to like it.

Hart - yes it does help - I can be such a systems freak given the opportunity! I don't mind a cloudy day - all my lettuces are grateful.

Jemi - thanks my deariof!
