Sunday with Perry Como

Where is Perry Como? Is he dead? I think he is. I loved him and his show so much when I was little. "letters...we get letters" or "yellow bird, way up in banana tree" I wanted to marry him - so sweet and gentle and handsome. ah....

Last night, dear reader, my one and I went to the Taj Mahal! Well, the restaurant with that name. It was so good and fun like it always is. Today we did a blitz on the house - dog hair - euuuhhh - I made scones, yummy, and Ron started his bread. Bones, Cal and the boys came over.

I took Riley out to the hen house and he found an egg. We sat around shooting the biz and drinking coffee and juice and eating warm scones. Very nice Sunday activity. The dog is now giving me the look - because - hey - it is still maximum ice and I haven't walked him yet. oh.

I fell down yesterday aft. carrying the newly cleaned chicken watering thingy - went down - smacked my head, dropped the water which ran under my and pooled to make even more ice in front of the coop door. Meanwhile the chickens are looking at me like this is some sort of new entertainment they are supposed to appreciate.

(Did I mention that I'm just the wee bittest tired of ice? I won't go on though.)

Calvin decided that my favourite hat was just right for him and he is my dear boy so with a little tugging I let it go. It looks very nice on him - the turquoise bits are good. I'd like to make another one similar to that one. Going to look through my stash and start another one - oh oh forgot to mention - I felted the tam o'rasta or the rasta o'shanter or the whatever it is and it did felt a bit but instead of the band getting tighter - it shrunk up so that it is narrower but the opening is wider if that makes any sort of sense. I wore it last night folded and pinned and now call it a rasta o'turban.

I'm not finished yet!

I am ecstatic to see Elizabeth Bowen on your bookshelf. What is Shelfari, anyway? You are so technologically advanced and here am I, still using a rotary phone. Mum gave Dad the new Victoria Glendinning letters between Charles Ritchie (whom the Tancookers refer to as, "you old stick"!) and Bowen, because she wanted to read it.

When are we all going South from Feb through time to plant the garden?
Your blog is such fun and I love to see your father and grandchildren and you on a horse and your fantastic tam in beautiful colours.

Speaking of Perry Como maybe being dead, is Don Harron dead too? I haven't heard about him in ages, so fear he must not be well...

Yay - a comment!!! I'm so freaking happy that the content hasn't even been absorbed yet!! Ya - I love Elizabeth Bowen - Shelfari I found on someone else's site and kind of liked so I joined up. It was on The Simple Life site you see on my blog link side-bar.

don Harron dead - jeesh I don't know but I'll tell you this - Phylis Diller isn't! just google and you'll find out.

oh my gawd, Perry Como. This is a great coinkiedink - I just downloaded some Perry Como for Mum last week. I've made a mixed tape for dancing with her. Perry Como "Accentuate the Positive" is my favourite.

I need a recipe for a beret style hat - can you tell me about this fine model?

hi oceanartist - hmm...a pattern isn't what I do. I cast on a whack of stitches -enough for the band - say 85 and then I made the band about three inches of ribbing - kn2 p2 and then I started increasing until I had about 200 or more and I increased very randomly not like you are supposed to but it worked and then on the way back I looked up how to do it and this pattern told me to k3 k2together for a row then 7 plain knit (all in the round you get me) and then k2 k2tog for a round and so on - I sort of did that but really my style is intuitive so I just keep looking at it and really when I felted it it felted out instead of in which I don't even have words to explain....
so good luck amigo - fly atter and see what happens
