Who me?

Wow! Here we go again. Another meeting of the insecure writer's support group!Group I'm glad I posted at least once in between first Wednesdays. And yep, I still struggle with insecurity about writing and just about anything else. I will tell you what I'm good at though - I'm good at faking it.  Right now I need to fake it because that is the only way I can sustain myself until I get the internal weather I'm hoping for. For I am the sky not the weather. I know I'm okay with all my wounds and scars. My basic goodness is intact like the sun, but it is being clouded by doubt and pain right now.  So I put on positivity like a rain coat and get out there.
I'm happy to be doing NaNoWriMo again this year -it really helps. Because I need the word count thing I am using it to count 20 thousand words on last years novel, which will give me a proper, if messy, first draft. The other 30 thousand will be on a new YA called Caribou Dreaming .
How are you all doing?

I've found that having a goal (like NaNoWriMo) can help me focus my energy and, as you say, put on some positivity clothes, until things go better. I hope that will happen with you, Jan. There is a bit of wisdom in the saying, 'Do it till You're Through it.'

Faking it is what I feel like we're all doing! But it does result in a finished draft. Good luck with NaNo!

Good luck with NaNo - sounds like you have a good plan for it. I'm always faking it too :-)

Good luck with NaNo! I can't participate this year, but I'm cheering everyone on. :)

I'm doing NaNo! I like how you're splitting the word count between two projects - neat idea. Good luck to you!

I'm gonna need to remember faking it until I make it this year, as I'm doing NaNo for the first time. My goal isn't even to get to 50k, it's just to write and write and write until I can't write anymore. I just hope I reach the 50k mark during that progress. Good luck this year and I hope you win!

I'm cheering on you brave souls taking on NaNo. Sounds like you have a plan and I wish you the best. Keep faking until it becomes real. And you sound pretty real already.

Lovely weather metaphor! My weather is overcast, as I'm beset by the flu, but writing through it. Wishing you happy writing in November.

Good luck with NaNo! It's all about getting those words on paper so we have something to work with. I'm cheering everyone on this time around!!!

Fake it 'til you make it is sage advice. I've used it many times, to success. Weather-wise, I am always a dark and stormy night. I applaud your participation in NaNo - it's something I want to do when I am writing full time in the not-to-distant future. I think it is a great way to just get the story on the page without worrying about the first draft being "perfect."

Fake it 'til you make it! that's what I feel like I'm doing most days, but others assure me that we're all feeling like that! So keep on faking it, Jan. It will get you where you want to be! "Sojourner in Labrador" certainly caught my eye. I spent one magical day in Labrador (well except for the black flies!!!) and long to go back. So I'll definitely be checking out your link. Happy writing in November ~ good luck with NaNo!
