F is for Fortitude, not Flagging or Flopping

Ugh...sometimes I just want to lie on the couch and watch netlix til my eyes bleed. I don't want to get at what I am supposed to be doing. Right now that isn't an edit or revision  - it's my taxes - but still I can relate it to the topic at hand. What's even worse is that I LOVE revisions and I HATE paperwork but still I can relate it to the topic at hand. What? I said that twice? I'm just too darn lazy to give a care. I have April ennui. It comes upon one after a whole year and a half of lazying about not working (thus making my 2014 return quite easy to do in fact as I made NO money) and now working a 42 hour week and having a Monday of a long weekend off. Yes, I know it is really Tuesday but I'm too tired to pretend that I'm writing this on the day I'm posting it. I'm fooling around with the space-time continuum and I just can't be bothered to pretend differently. I did nothing today. Well, I cleaned out the cutlery drawer in case some relative makes a surprise visit and finds it all full of cheese crumbs. Why can't the man close the drawer when he makes his afternoon snack? And I made what looks like a FABULOUS dinner - it is a deep dish tart made with filo pastry and stuffed with feta and goat cheese and eggs and mushrooms and peppers and garlic and stuff. I think it'll be yummy - I sort of made it up with a bit of help from an online food mag called Delicious (British - so I did have to translate the oven temp but really I got the sweet patootie to do that cuz I was just too tired to be bothered.

But - when my guy sends his edits back to me I'll employ all sorts of stratagem to increase my Fortitude and decrease my Flagging and Flopping. That stratagem is bum-glue-eum! I stick me arse end to the chair and it doesn't release until I've done x number of pages a day. Right now I can be flopping (well not so much as the tax dept. won't like it) but I can flop on this - the last day of my first (earned) long weekend. We'll eat our lovely savory tart and watch another episode of that king of bad-asses - Clever Green on Rake - and tomorrow will be another day, as Scarlet says...only here on this blog tomorrow will be today. Got it? Good!

Here is another photo of beautiful downtown Labrador that has zip to do with my topic. It is the view from atop of Sunday Hill looking towards Grand Lake (Little Lake in the foreground) We went there on the snow machine on Saturday...look the other way and you see our beach and out towards the Mealy Mountains - a lovely place to wander.

I think the hardest time to be a writer is when you're just too tired and lazy to do the work. We all go through that, Jan (well, I do). The key is just getting started. Then it picks up, or does for me. Yes, it's a matter of pushing past that 'I don't wanna!' stage...

Hi, I am one of Lisa's Live Wires for the A to Z Blogging Challenge and this post made me laugh! I too just cleaned out the cutlery drawer, wondering how half the stuff gets in there that isn't even something you use to eat!

I am also writing, and I work PT so my taxes had some work associated with them. And my hubby did them...so that was nice!

I wish you the best in your writing and editing (I am editing now..it's a never ending process!)

I know what you mean about the silverware drawer...how on earth does it get in that condition?!

Don't worry about catching up--just start each day with a clean slate. :)

I've been doing quite a bit of flopping lately, not sure what the deal is either. Sometimes I'll watch Netflix to research story structure LOL.

Why did you have to remind me that taxes are due? Ugh. Why does the April Blog Challenge always come up at tax time?

That's a great picture. I grew up in Newfoundland, and it looks like many a back road my father would drag me down all seasons of the year.

Oh, I HATE doing taxes, and as for the bloomin' cutlery drawer... I clean it one day and about 2 seconds later there's crumbs, weird blobs of I don't know what, and strange grey dust over everything. It's a mystery. But editing, that's enough to make the heart sing.
