The Source

Many folk and fairy tales tell of the sources of magic. Perhaps it is a magic well where the fairy draws her power, or a mountain high in the clouds. Perhaps it is an elixir, a nostrum, a potion that keeps the wicked queen's lips full and her skin so glowy. Or, in reverse, there are deadly spots, places that take the life force from us - the Goblin's Market or kryptonite.

My source is simple. It is nature in general and then I have several places within nature that give me a special boost, heal me when I'm sick of body or heart, inspire me. The source. One of my places here in this wondrous place called The Labrador - is the shore - the beach and the shore that continues on from it out to the point. This is the natural  intersection between the sea and the land and because of that is an absolute constant of change, of form-shifting so adept it would put Merlin to shame  Today the fella, the dog and I walked along it as far as what I call the Second Beach, the place I think is the most perfect picnic place although I've never eaten a thing there. If you want to see lots of photos of this walk you can go here.

I'll leave one or two here but mainly I just want to say that I'm getting my mojo back, thanks to the source.

I love this post. Of course, I love all your posts, and I'm always so glad when I get onto the blogging circuit and see a new one from you. This really makes me think about the things that are like magic for me, as well as the things that suck out the life force. Sunshine is one of the magic forces. And sitting in the sunshine pouring through a window while writing is one of the most healing things. And walking in the sunshine is even better than sitting.

Nature is so awe-inspiring - and, indeed, story-inspiring too. :)

I think you live in a truly magical place!

Jan - I couldn't agree more about the power of nature. It is indeed the source, and always restores me when I pay attention to it.

I will go along with that. I am a long way from my super powerful spots (oceans and waterfalls) but just getting into the woods has some magic for me. And I can do that any time I want.

I think The Source is beautiful. It would provide me the power and magic to create, that's for sure.

I love the beaches too! I'm glad that you have such a beautiful place to be with nature, even though it looks like spring will never fully arrive, so glad that you are inspired again!
