O is for Olden

For the month of April I will be taking part in the Blogging from A to Z Challenge. I will be using two tools besides my trusty computer - my imagination and my dictionary -The American Heritage Dictionary, Second College Edition.. I will turn to the letter of the day, flip the pages and let my fickle finger of fate find the word. Then I'll write - might be a story, might be a rant, might be a poem. Who knows! Do let me know what you think. To go to the list of other participants go here - There's a heck of a lot of blogs and there are many more signed up below me. If you make a comment I will do my darnedest to check out your blog and comment. Spread the love around!

Olden - adj. Old: ancient: in olden times

In olden times, the story starts, we lived in a round town
with spires copper and golden.
The faerie folk were oft about
mischievous, sly and emboldened.

A girl named Mags, who dressed in rags,
decided to trick the faeries.
She set out a dish, sweet and delish
of cakes all iced and merry.

Later that night, with a net made of gold
She hid near the dish for those faeries of old.
And when they arrived, all laughing and  leaping
she threw o'er the net and set them all weeping.

Please free us dear girly! They begged and they pleaded
We'll make you a dress of all silky and twirly.
She laughed and she freed them and told them no dearies,
I just wanted to see if I could catch me some faeries!

Jan - I absolutely love the poem! It evokes the sense of what has gone before... Nicely done!
