Farm Visits
The farm visits are going well. I've visited five and have three more to get to. Was out in Merigomish yesterday at an organic dairy. I met some lovely folks and lots of dogs, cows, and sheep. I can't post photos of these visits as you all might like because they aren't mine to share just yet. But I always take photos as I'm going and coming and those I can share. This is one I took when Ron pulled over to phone someone the other day - I thought it was nice...
I cannot tell you the joy of getting to visit people at their farms and hearing them share their stories. To bad we didn't just all do that somehow. There is an idea in this that I've been formulating for a long long time. More when it is coherent.
CatchWord Productions - K. and I are off tomorrow to Linder's place. It is half-way to the Keltic where we will be doing our biggest annual mystery - the Halloween one. It is heaven to mosey slowly to Linder's and chat with my dear pal K. We do it because it is too long a haul on one day when we have bits and pieces to make sure of (clues, costumes, etc...). And because we get to hang out at the most lovely farm of Linder and David's and have a little mini-holiday before a weekend of murdering good time.

We write the scripts, I'm writing the stories of the farms and of course I write blog posts but I haven't been working on my revision in the last couple of weeks -well really since the pitch the publisher. I did send a query off to a publisher for The Rock Walker and have found another place to send one - hopefully today. And then I think I will work for an hour or two on the revision when Gwen gets here. She's here on a Wednesday this week as I had a farm visit yesterday.... So it is slow but I am working to a haphazard plan and know I will get back into to it very soon.

And next week and the week after, I am going to be doing something similar to what you are- visiting and listening to uplifting stories!
And your Paramita Challenge, I am still going to do. One day soon when I get time to breathe! I love your challenges, but there is this horrible thing called time that refuses to allow me to do what is important, like your challenges.
Jan - I just love your stories about visiting farms. It reminds me of the years when I lived in the Midwest. Farms are a truly unique culture, and I'm happy you're spending time on them.
I wish you well with your writing. I empathize with working in the time to do that.

I think your farm visiting experience sounds like it could provide a nice backdrop to a good murder mystery! (Maybe an OLD murder... a set of rural farms and really old gossip)...
