Such lovely photos. Looks as though you had a good time. By the caption on the last photo, do you mean your friend Arlo is nearly 90. If so, he really doesn't look it. Thanks for sharing the great photos.

Seriously LOVING your hat...

Mason - yes, Arlo will be ninety next Tuesday. He and I will make our way, once again, to the waterfront. There as in past years we will have a rum and coke. Then, in honour of this decade, we will have another! Hopefully, my man will pick us up. Depends...

Elspeth - it is called a fascinator and a lovely woman named Maureen who owns a consignment shop called 'Elsie's' lent it to me from her personal collection! And I just watched myself on CBC. With my face all weird because the queen was near...

Looks like a great afternoon. And I also really love the hat!

You both look great, as does the queen (in her own peculiar way!) They are lovely photos, your friend Arlo doesn't look anywhere near ninety years of age...whats his secret?

What fabulous pictures! I love the queen. Your friend Arlo looks like a character and I love the pic of the two of you, too!

Lucky you! Queen E is a classy lady - you're so lucky to have seen her. :)

Rosie - Thanks! I returned it to its owner today...sadly.

Niamh - I agree with the lovely in her own peculiar way thing. I cannot believe that everyone of my age that I talk to insists she looks like their mother! I mean, she really really does look like my mother but these others must be under some strange delusion peculiar to British subjects or colonialized types. My S.P thinks she looks like his mother and his mother is - well not at all like her. weird.
oh and Arlo's secret - a daily dose of aggravation I think.
Tartlette - thanks - he's a writer and a character...

Great photos! So clear and crisp. I especially love the one with you and your friend Arlo. I am grateful for all the veterans did for us during WWII. It becomes very real when you know someone who actually served. The sea cadets are cute too!

Lovely post!

Yes, you're right Chary. My dad is also a vet of WWII so I do find it precious that we still have some of those wonderful guys around to tell us stories and keep us remembering. And the place we were was chock a block with the guys!

Clarissa - yes, it all happened yesterday in Halifax, Nova Scotia! I took 175 pics so I'll probably show some more...

I love the colors you've captured in your shots - so clear and festive! It looks like quite a special celebration!

Jan Morrison said...

oh Faith it was! Tonnes of fun and the contrast between all the vets of an age and the sea cadets was wonderful!

Please please please submit your photo of her Her Maj to Herself. It is likely that her editors collect such well-done snaps, and would appreciate this one; it is one of the most flattering and flair-filled shots I've ever seen of the Queen, so please DO submit it, Jan!
