Maggie Muggins is Back!

It's still raining but my optimism has returned. 24 hours was all it took. Thanks for the love!  I did manage to work on my beat sheet - thanks Roz! I'm about a quarter of the way through the novel doing each scene and I can already sense the good of it - I haven't gotten to the wallowing around flabby bit though - but I think I should be able to wrest my sweet sane story out of the mire of details and flounderings.
Last night when I finally got home - well for the second time because I went and got my step-dot from the grade nine dance - which sucked because it played music that teenagers like - argghhh - sorry for the long digression but ...so last night when I got home I opened a book that had come in the mail. No, not Elizabeth S-C's yet, another book. It came at JUST the right time. I forgot I'd ordered it and in it sailed. I stayed up relatively late diving into it. It is The Modern Library Writer's Workshop - a phenomenally stupid name for a gorgeous and helpful book by Stephen Koch.  I went right to the revision part and read and read and now I've started at the beginning. It reminds me in some ways of Stephen King's wonderful book On Writing. I know I will keep it close and dip in and in.
I will take it with me today - I have another day at a hospital with a friend (what is going on!!) but I am glad because, as I said before, there is nothing to do - it is like being in jail and being forced to write which I adore the idea of - only you're getting brownie points for being a good pal too. Perfect.
And then tonight after a visit with my octegenarian, Arlo, and a couple of appointments, I'm meeting my sweet patootie at our friends' house for dinner. It is our anniversary! Eight years ago we met each other at the Dingle Park and decided we might give it another couple of dates before we decided that we weren't each other's cup of tea. And here we are! Up to our eyeballs in love, mortgages and kids. Yay!

One of the friends of the couple we're visiting tonight is a published writer so she really feeds that desire of mine for more more more conversations about writing and living the writing life. So in every way this will be a writerly life with some romance thrown in!  And the kids can eat pizza! Yay.
See you tomorrow for the Friday Challenge...

I'm glad to hear your optimism came back. I sometimes find a little time to truly feel the low feelings makes the higher ones even better. It can be really useful.

Congrats on your anniversary. Our eight-year anniversary was Tuesday. Love must be in the air. :)
