it is raining on my deck and in my heart...

Yes, kids, the cheery persona is down. Pollyanna hasn't a thing to say.
When I was a child we had this weird record called Little Orley and The Happy Bird - do google it, I have! In it Little Orley, the hero of a set of these records, meets the Happy Bird who sings to him in a very off key sort of fashion for a bird come to think of it "When every little thing goes wrong, just sing a happy little song, be as happy as can be, fill your heart with glee, when every little thing goes wrong!" Orley gives it a try cuz he's a good kid and no matter what happens he sings this refrain. The Happy Bird is always there to check up on his glee factor. Then a series of somethings happen that I can't remember but it involves a runaway wagon and some other problems that end up causing the Happy Bird to take quite a tumble. He starts to splutter and complain when Little Orley reminds him of his song. The Happy Bird starts it up valiantly in a very squawking voice "when every little thing goes wrong, just sing a happy little song...AW FIDDLESTICKS!"

That's me today.
I'll see how that fits with my revision. To quote a Buddhist slogan "When the world is filled with evil, transform all mishaps into the path of bodhi."

I'm sorry that you're down -- a little.
It will get better as soon as a love one smiles, or a stranger, or a child or even a dog.
Smile, damn it, Jan!

You're ok! You haven't lost it. Your grumpiness will pass -- or the kids will hide.
I learn a lot from you and you always at least make me smile.

Aw fiddlesticks!
Sorry to hear you are down, hope you are feeling better soon... maybe you dont have to channel into your work? - maybe you need a few hours off to wallow in some melancholy? Nothing wrong with a bit wallowing!

Thanks Mary and Niamh - as it happens I can not wallow or work on my manuscript as other dragons are roaring! Just finished -yet another cv for a contract job - find these tedious because my skill set is wide if not deep...I will get over this shit soon enough.

Go spend time with your chickens. Chickens are great mood picker-upers. I do sympathize with your mood - been there, done that, got many, many tee shirts. Best of luck in securing the new contract.

I'm sorry you're feeling down. I hope you can find your happy bird again. You reminded me of when I was little, my mom used to have the album: Peter and the Wolf. It scared the crap out of me!
