A sad tragedy. But looking at the first photo, you realize there is hope and that is good.

Yes, it is a tragedy. Our teacher, who is on a long retreat in India, sent all of us a message - he doesn't want us to fall down into sadness but to keep on doing what needs doing. And Mason - that is why I put that picture first - she is so present!
Those photos are amazing, Jan. The child with the book is a picture of hope and joy in horrible surroundings. There's a powerful lesson in that smile.
I completely agree with the other comments. I went online and made a donation to the Canadian Red Cross earmarked for China.
Thanks all - yes, Red Cross is good, or Doctors Without Borders (one of my faves). They are in desperate need of blankets I hear. One of the big problems is that the aid workers that are going up there are suffering from altitude sickness - very difficult.
It just seems to one disaster after another. Those photos are harrowing. My heart goes out to all. Doctors Without Borders in a favorite of mine too.
These photos show the resilience of the human spirit. They're amazing.
