Ah...Cape Breton Island

Cape Smokey from our cabin's yard...

two crows joy

For those of you from afar - Cape Breton Island is part of Nova Scotia - it is an island but it is joined to the mainland with a causeway. Sometimes Capers revolt and shout "Down with the causeway" but mostly they seem happy to see us mainlanders storm their shores in search of fantastic music (Rita McNeil, The Rankins, Men of the Deep, and on and on...), their amazing land and seascapes, their world renown hospitality and their ability to create fun out of not much! That last ability is one that they share with the company I have with two of my best friends - Catchword Productions. We create mysterious events and this weekend was the best! We had 100 guests in the most fabulous location - The Keltic Lodge - in gorgeous Ingonish Beach. I could go on and on about the glorious views - I could hardly eat my breakfast for looking out the windows - every one framing yet another view of shore and sea that took my breath away. And I like my breakfast! The food was spectacular, the accommodations completely wonderful, the staff superb BUT best of all were the guests. We've been doing this for over 24 years and we have a lot of regular followers but this was for the most part a completely new crew. And they were absolutely keen to have fun. They took notes and asked questions and followed us and ate up every fight, every conversation, every moment as if they truly had become entranced.

Today I am basking in the glow of the whole event and doing my wash (always need a little grounding activity). I'm a bit fluish so I'm taking it easy. My best pal came down with the dreaded lurgy on the weekend so I think I'm about four days behind her. Luckily I can arrange my week so as not in infect anyone! I hope.

I envy your fun doing mystery weekends. They are such a good time; and bonus for you, in such a beautiful location! Cape Breton looks lovely; oh, someday I'll get there...

Elspeth - why don't you come and do a murder mystery here with us? We're doing one on the long May weekend - you could be a 'guest' murderer!
Elizabeth - so far I don't feel that badly - perhaps my insanely strict diet of nothing but goodness will allow me to escape without too much illness! How is the bug doing at your house???
Sophie - she did!!! I'd love to talk to her sometime. The rainbows were unreal - this was a double one with both ends plunged into the sea - I've never seen anything like it. We saw three rainbows going up and a bald eagle. We saw endless rainbows on the way back. It was a blessed trip for sure.

I've always wanted to go to Nova Scotia. Sounds like you all had a blast. Those chairs are begging to be sat on.

Thanks for the geography, my Nova Scotian is a little rusty!

Elizabeth B. - unfortunately the first day they were soaking wet! But we did get some sitting on them for sure.

Sure Elspeth - I'm sure we could figure it out -email me at mobudgeatsympaticodotnsdotca and we'll see what can transpire. You'd need to get out here of course (in time for a rehearsal).

Denise - no kidding yet I know all about Australia!!! ha!

Applause for murderers! Your mind is obviously built for fiction. You should be famous any day now. Curious as I am for elaboration, stay away until you are well.
Great pictures!

Do hope you are feeling pink as a peach by now!
Oh lovely pictures of a wonderous area. Those beaches look mysterious too!
....I wonder if you've collected any very valuable Beach Glass? That seems to be a truly exciting hobby around here, being smoothed and carved into jewelry!

Take care, and keep going for these wonderful weekends, and posting pictures of them.

Liz - no beach glass on these beaches which are all big boulders. We were up much above the water...there is a beach in Ingonish but it wasn't beachy weather unfortunately. I've collected beach glass - my sister who lives in Ontario has a huge glass bottle FULL of beach glass.
Rayna - thank you! I will.
All - I'm miraculously feeling better and think maybe my scrupulous diet has made me slightly impervious to the worst the flu season has to offer. I'm sure to suffer from my hubris.
