It's a New Day!

And I've been studying my craft. I've been reading about those bugaboos - plot and structure - which I thought I could go around. Take a short-cut and let the characters whisper to me what happens next. Ah well. Then I remembered what I set out to do by finishing this novel and not the other two on dusty novel shelf. (OK - in my dusty hard-drive) I wanted to learn how to write a novel! I wanted to pick one that had a fairly proscribed format - a mystery as opposed to a literary novel - which is what the other two are trying to be when they grow up. So, why get freaked out when I don't know how to do it. Reminds me of my brother-in-law when he was but a young lad. Wouldn't take up skiing because he didn't know how. Jeesh we laughed but there I go doing the same thing. And it is back to the bum on the chair. Oh wait a minute, not THE bum on the chair, MY bum on the chair. Totally different image eh?

Today I'm going in for a nice long day of work. Four clients and a visit to Arlo if possible (Arlo are you there???). If not today then tomorrow. I'll take the book on plot and structure and my notebook and keep plugging. Cuz, as the old man would say - hi Dad - 'when the going gets tough, the tough get going'.

I wish you would write a plot and structure for my life, Jannie. Both are full of gaps and repeats here, looking after my early Alz. Mom. Miss you, and am glad to keep tabs on you here! Love Marion

I'm hooked on your blog - you need to update now that you have an audience. I know, I know, more pressure, but as I said - I'm hooked. Hope you have a child-filled mother's day. I think I will brave the cold and wet and garden. Talk to you soon.
